Free free free

As everyone scrambles for gifts during for the holidays, its refreshing to see the amount of FREE things being given away on BOCOCCA’s email distribution. Maternity clothes, 0-6 month pastel colored baby clothes, baby bottles, girls clothes (5-7 years), a sofa. Definitely the best deal, if you need the stuff, its in good condition and the neighborhood location means that you don’t need to schlep across town to get it.

However, back to the world of reality, for a price, my picks today would have to be the Bugaboo frog….(remember, strollers are like cars – you want to be seen in good one). This frog has been used for two years and is being sold for $200 with all the extras….(rain cover, etc). Originally $750. Sweet.

I also loved the jogging stroller (only used half a dozen times), bought from a previous family, and really great for those new year’s resolutions. We all know that at the beginning of the year, we strive to be healthy and to lose all those holiday pounds. Of course, this only lasts for a few weeks. Hence, the wisdom of this purchase. Stroller is being sold at $40. If you use it a few times, lose interest and amortize the cost over four hopeless attempts of being fit….you are doing great! No guilt. Just a tap on a shoulder for your well intentioned self.

Finally, there is the active baby bjorn carrier….used for just two weeks and being sold for $65 (retails at $90 plus tax). This is a great buy for the new parent – who doesn’t know if they are going to be the baby bjorn vs. the keep the baby in the stroller parent. However, even if you already have one, you should get another one. Having been through this three times, i now firmly believe in the ’he’ and ‘she’ baby carrier. Particularly for colicky or very fussy babies. Believe me, there is nothing so irritating as when you have exhausted the swing, the jiggering, the shuushing and the baby just won’t quit crying.
Finally you reach a point where you just HAVE to get out….if only to share your angsts with the rest of the world. At this point, the baby’s cries are drowning out your thoughts and it takes you a few minutes to figure out where you put the bjorn in your frazzled state….but then its either too tight or too loose to carry the baby depending on who used it last.  Sooo you then you spend a few minutes adjusting the straps….but of course, because you are so wound up by the crying at this point, you just can’t quite get that perfect fit. I say, for this price, get the second bjorn and save yourself, the baby and your family the agony.

Happy holiday shopping on http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bococa_parents/…its pretty breezy out there.
