Playbeds

Kids love playing in, on, under and behind beds. I mean the games run the gamut of hide and seek, to sword fighting, pillow fighting, doctor etc. So, when you think of your child’s bed, don’t just think of comfort (think of durability after all that jumping). Now I am definitely not an expert on mattresses, (that’s what stores like Sleepy’s are for), but i do know that padding enhances durability and you certainly need to be aware of how much spring is in the mattress for comfort. Reason why I bring up the mattress is because when kids are little (say under 7) beds are an extension of the playground. In the city in the particular, with the absence of a backyard for many, coupled with harsh winters or super hot days – kids to often have playdates at home (someone help me). Just make sure that the kids tidy up afterwards, and i stress ‘the kids’. So how can you turn your child’s room into more of a play area?

Well, if you can get over the fact, that the cool beds, are quite cumbersome to make (and that it would be great if you can share this with someone while you put your son or daughter on a fast track to bed making), here are some pretty great ideas. There are several interior designers that will build a bunk bed for you also…if you give them an idea of what you want.  Plus, if you are quite creative, then you can actually make the space issue that is characteristic of apartments in the city….actually work for you! Some of these beds are so funky, they make those truck or lightning mcqueen beds so ordinary. I like these two beds for ‘hide and seek’ and camping (kids love tents) plus ‘little fingers won’t get stuck in the door (since it doesn’t slide).

Awww, cute! Funny how somethings really scare our little ones. Never mind, i am sure it will be forgotten in a few weeks. Just associate the beach with something positive….a cupcake picnic or a tea party with friends or something.

  2. That would be great, I love guest bloggers! Let me know or email me separately at milbert@ihaveyouneed.net to coordinate.
